BEFORE

n this home, the owners had already embarked upon a garage addition on the left side with master bedroom on the second floor, in which the existing front-facing gable roof was repeated for the addition, with the result that it not only created a chaotic front facade with the look of a duplex, but also a leak problem in the intersection of the two roofs. Further, the owners had made a substantial investment in the new truss roof for the master bedroom, which they did not want to waste.

The architect's solution, in addition to making the interior plan revisions desired by the owners, was to reverse the existing center gable, thereby creating a more harmonious, integrated front facade, as well as retaining the roof in which owners had invested, while also solving the roof leak problem.
